For almost two centuries, Nyack’s brave volunteer fire companies have been the backbone of our community, rushing to the rescue with unwavering dedication.
This captivating exhibit reveals the origins of eleven fire companies, spotlighting their founding members, first leaders, and original firefighting equipment. You’ll enjoy stunning early photographs that bring the stories of each company to life.
To honor the courage and service of these local heroes, the exhibit also showcases an array of memorabilia—certificates, ribbons, medals, and badges—that span from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
Come celebrate the legacy of Nyack’s firefighting spirit! Exhibit runs from November 2, 2024 through January 25, 2025 and is open every Saturday from 1-4PM at the Historical Society of the Nyacks located directly behind the Nyack Library.
